This week at Getting Real with Paula, we are talking community engagement with Sarah Onyango. Sarah is a well known figure in the Black Canadian media circles and a trailblazer in community radio. A Kenyan native, she is a relentless promoter of Black culture in all its forms; be it politics, literature, arts or simply the black community’s reality, be it challenges or successes. Sarah has been hosting Black on Black on CHUO for over 20 years and has won many awards for the work she does of behalf of the afro-Caribbean communities; be it awards such as the United Way Community Builder Award (2008 & 2011), the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012) and being one of Honorees of the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women (2018). I, for one, is so looking forward to this long overdue conversation!
