This year, on the eve of the 2019 federal election, hundreds of people from across the country will convene for these four days and four nights of mobilization, networking, planning and face-to-face meetings with elected officials from all political parties. They will use the Canadian Strategy as a compass to map community initiatives throughout the country, identify gaps in existing programing and prioritize key areas meriting additional or new support from government. Throughout the event, we will be featuring videos produced by Black youth who participated in cross-Canada Jam Sessions, the Michaëlle Jean Foundation held to ensure that a youth perspective is included within Canada’s national anti-racism strategy. The opportunity for direct meetings with lawmakers, at the Summit and during connected events that weekend in Ottawa, will empower participants to encourage the main federal parties to work towards an inclusive agenda designed to remove racial barriers and related forms of discrimination, in order to enhance social and economic outcomes for Canadians, particularly from Black communities. This Summit is sponsored by TD Bank Group, as the exclusive financial sponsor, Sobeys and the Alt Hotel.
